Ren-Jie obtained his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and master degree in Materials Science and Engineering from National Taiwan University. His master dissertation, “Influence of the reaction gases on graphene growth on copper substrates by chemical vapour deposition”, focuses on growing graphene by CVD process and enhancing film quality via investigation of the growth mechanism.

Ren-Jie continued his advancement with a DPhil candidate in Oxford Materials, and has been working in the development of other 2D materials beyond graphene including hBN and SnS2. Besides, he also investigates the 2D heterostructures combining these new 2D materials with graphene, MoS2, WS2 for optoelectronic applications.
